The Full Story
Our Mission
Joseph Coat’s mission is to answer God’s call to love and serve our neighbor by providing clothing, furniture and household goods to those in need, at no cost through donations by supporters and your financial gifts.
Our Story
In 1998, Joseph’s Coat clothing ministry was born to meet the needs of homeless families hosted through the Inter-Faith Hospitality Network (IHN). The first ministry was housed in a two-car garage and offered clothing to IHN hosted families. The ministry was supported by volunteers from area churches, including Messiah Lutheran, St. Pius X Catholic, Unity Presbyterian, Epiphany Lutheran, St. Matthew's Catholic, Peace Lutheran Gahanna, Eastpointe Christian Church and Peace United Methodist.
Joseph’s Coat expanded to include furniture and household goods to provide stabilizing resources to families transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. In 2012, Joseph’s Coat of Central became a non-profit 501 (c) 3. Today, we serve individuals and families in Central Ohio struggling to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
